i want to get into graphic design. i use to be a webdesign major, but decided for a change. i start school again next sememster, but want to start finding a job with it now. should i put together a portfolio including my webdsign jobs as well? would people be turned off to me if i include this stuff?

you should added your portfolio not just with web designs.
you can added some of your graphic, or visual art, and of course freehand drawing.
people are more interested with your basic concept. basic idea.
about how you manage your lay-out and proportion, colors picking and blending, and originality.

i am a graphic designer, for 6 years, and i have this somekind designhouse to collect and gather the designers in my city. just for trading concept, sharing idea, even we could work together in some occassion. so my other job is to select what best in design and the designer.

Yes you should include that art too. Digital Media Arts is a community as a whole and when you get involved in DMA you will have to learn a bit of everything to stay competitive and employed.
