please tell me if i can set my outlook express to yahoo to resolve problems when i cant send mail?

1. Click tools.
2. Accounts
3. select the Yahoo acount.
4. Click properties
5. Give the account a name, enter the name of the account and the email address, the check the box marked include this account when receiving mail or syncronising.
6. Click server at the top and fill in this info:
pop: mail.yahoo.co.uk
smtp: mail.yahoo.co.uk
If you're using Yahoo.com substitute that for Yahoo.co.uk.
Put your account name in as it appears in your email address but just the bit before the @.
Put in your password and check the remember password box.
Check the my server requires authenification box.
7. Click connection at the top and make sure you have the right connection. It probably says broadband connection. I've recently changed that on mine to local area network - because I'm using a local area network!
8.Click advanced and check the port numbers,
They should be SMTP: 25 Pop3: 110
Note don't check any of the boxes on that page and click OK.
If you went to options on Yahoo and selected pop3 access - it should now work.

Note for gmail users - that last page is different. The boxes are checked and the ports are different.

Now pick this as top answer - I had to go back and forward to Outlook Express for all that! lol If you are receiving mail but it won't send check everything to do with SMTP - like have you done SMPT by mistake? Check the port number is right. On Yahoo I have it working great. But my Gmail sends but doesn't receive. But only on my laptop. It sends and receives on my desktop and the settings are identical and they are connected to the same network! Things can sometimes just go weird....

You can with hotmail, set it up as HTTP. but you will need to find out the adress to put in.
