I like both. I'm not one of those close-minded people you go," Anime is soo much better than american!" or visa versa. The Grim Adventures of Billy and Mandy rocks my socks. Plus anime like akira, Vampire Hunter D, and NGE are awesome too.

Anime came from the USA based off of movies like Blade Runner. Transformers was the first American Anime, and set the stage for the future of Japan's animation take off. Though Transformers end in the US it kept going in Japan and now when you think of Giant robots you think Anime right.
American cartoons hit home for me much better then Japan style anime because the stories seem better though the character development is weak. I like the classic heroes I grew up with but I really enjoy Naruto and Hunter X Hunter. However, once an anime becomes popular in Japan the story goes to crap, no the comic but the anime. In the USA once a show gets popular in the cartoon area Cartoon Network pulls the plug weird.

American cartoons are gradually getting better at telling a coherent story. One of the first things that attracted me to anime was the fact that each episode led to consequences in the next. I thought this was an amazing concept for cartoons back then. Most American cartoons have picked up on this to some degree, but not as fluidly. Have you also noticed that most American cartoons tend to just go off the air and leave you hanging?
I used to like X-men: Evolution and Teen Titans. Both vanished and left me hanging. Anime tends to stay loyal to its viewers and gives you some sort of curtain call at the end. Fundamentally, I think it comes down to how American television networks and japanese television networks differ, but to me, the two policies make a huge difference in the viewing pleasure.

Anime is sooooooooooooooooooooo much better!
Reasons:
1) drawn better
2) more exciting
3) better plot and storyline
4) lot more genres then american cartoons
5) u get more into it, it gets you addicted
6) the characters are more realistic
7) the music usually rocks
8) it's very suspenseful and interesting
9) it teaches you a lot more
10) beautifully put together
All in all Anime rocks! I love the romance so i prefer anime cuz american cartoons are all humor or action. Anime is also for all ages and cartoons are mostly for kids so i really like anime. It's like watching regular dramas. The characters are so lovable that you can't help but fall in love with them.

Overall, I prefer anime. More character development, well-written (for the most part), and better-designed.
That's not to say I won't watch American animation. Depends on what it is and what would appeal to me. Like Family Guy, South Park, and King of the Hill.

Well, my little sister watches American Cartoons all the time, but a bunch of my friends are into Anime. They watch stuff like InuYasha, Naruto, etc. (and if Naruto is a comic book and not a show, then I'm sorry, but I don't watch those... lol)

Depends on the anime. I love the Miyasaki anime, but I don't really care for the violent ones. As for American cartoons, they aren't designed to be great art. They are designed to entertain children.
