No. He's doing well at giving favours to his cronies and protecting the rich, white old boy network, but the rest of us? He couldn't care less. And cheers to the person who said that invading a country that couldn't invade us isn't defending our freedom. I won't defend Saddam Hussein or suggest that his government was a good one, but it's not our place to decide for the Iraqi people, who clearly don't want our troops there, don't appreciate being "liberated" (I'm not surprised they're nonplussed about being liberated from their infrastructure and peace), and don't have a clue how to unite their disparate religious and cultural groups without a despotic leader.
Bush doesn't have a clue either how to clean up the mess he's made, and unfortunately, he doesn't seem to care. The only building that is on schedule in the rebuilding of Iraq is the new American embassy. Not anything that is designed to help the people. And the recently leaked UN memo on the dismal conditions in which the Iraqis live and work underscores how bleak the prospect of rebuilding (both in terms of physical buildings and infrastructure and intangibles such as trust and tolerance) is and how Bush simply ignores the reality of the situation. The tragedy in this farce is that it's the relatively innocent Iraqi commoners who are the real losers here.

No. The only thing that I would have like to have seen is some action on social security. I'm in my 30's, and I know when I retire, we won't have social security any longer. I didn't agree with his plan, but at least it was something, which is better than just ignoring the problem and hoping it goes away.
The war? Terrible. People say he is doing the best that he can, and that is just a load of BS. His advisors spent all of the time coming up with an invasion plan, but forgot the most important-the exit strategy. Running over Iraq actually wouldn't be a hard task. I mean, the Canadians probably could have done that. There was no plan for keeping the peace AFTER the fact. He should have fired Rummy long ago, but Bush is just too loyal to his good 'ol boys for that.

I just went to the grocery store this morning and saw that prices on many items had gone up about 20% over last week - yeah, George is really looking after us! I think its called inflation. Gas prices have gone up about a dime since last week. Hey, thanks Georgie Boy! He has George Bush's interests in mind, not those of the American people.
And there's no freedom to defend in Iraq because we have no f*****g business being over there!! They had absolutely nothing to do with 9/11. It started when he went into office and said during the first week of his administration he was going to get rid of Saddam Hussein because he had put out a contract on Daddy after the first Gulf War. Its all a personal vendetta and people are dying to satisfy his ego.
As a president and leader Bush is less than a Zero. The ultimate Loser. If America survives 8 years of him, we'll be lucky!!

Bush is doing an excellent job of addressing the nation if you happen to to be a blind supporter. However he is doing as much in depth addressing of the truth as any other Prez ever has... Nil. And for the second part of your question I am not sure how to answer. How is OUR freedom being defended by occupying a country that has had no part in infringing on our freedom in the first place.

Here's a question for you. I would be living the same life as I am now whether the troops are in Iraq or not. So how is them being there defending my freedom? Don't get me wrong. I support the troops. But I don't support bush or his war.

Well, he doesn't seem to be addressing the nation very much anymore, but he is doing the best he can for our freedom in Iraq. I'm a huge Bush fan. Go Republicans!!!!

Uh-- that would be a no and a no.
While he's done some things ok, buy and large this administration hasn't accomplished much domestically. Even the wars have been executed rather poorly.
I'd like to understand the twisted logic that leads one to believe the Iraq war is to defend our freedom.

i think both you and I know that this poll is incindiary and you wont get anyone saying something of substance, so why ask? I will say that I used to support him, but as a conservative I feel betrayed by him in his stance on immigration and pussing out on iraq, i think its great were over there, but he's the commander in cheif and what he says goes. He has no chance to get reelected so why does he care about what democrats think right now? If I were him, I would bomb the place back to the stone age. Any suspected insurgents afterward would be subject to public mass execution and deal with it just like we did with germany after ww2. Not many people know about the insurgency there but it was strong until we stopped pussyfooting around. Let them know we mean business and it would stop.

Iraq has NOTHING to do with OUR freedom. If anything this bullcrap war is leaving us vulnerable to real threats. Bush has lied about the Weapons of Mass Destruction, we all know this, now he says the war is for Iraqs freedom, doesnt seem to be much better there, just alot more casualties for them and us. Iraqi civilians dont want us there anymore..time to move out.
