You need legal advice, first of all. Your dad may have had insurance on some of his acccounts that would pay off a portion of the bills; this is almost certainly true if there is a mortgage on the house. Look in the phone book for Legal Aid or the local Bar Association, for a referral to an attorney. They can tell you if you qualify for free legal assistance, based on your circumstances.
