Posed this question before & was told not so kindly that Disturbed was not heavy metal. #1 Why are they at Ozzfest, & #2 If you don't consider them heavy then,WHAT?? Alternative?BULLSHIT!They just get down with the way things are going & rock it.

Well, I'm 44 and I listen to Cradle Of Filth; Motograter; Kittie; I'm not big on Disturbed but listened to them I don't like their new album and prefer In Flames version of Land Of Confusion over thiers. I enjoy Godsmack, Tool, A Perfect Circle; System Of A Down; Bad Acid Trip. I went 6 deep into the pit for Avenged Sevenfold. Aetreyu; Rob Zombie (who opened for Priest and went on after Anthrax last time I saw them last halloween). There's Ill Nino, 40 Below Summer; Mushroomhead and Slipknot. So yeah, I like the crap.

Well, I didn't answer your last one, but since I fit the profile...I'm 55 and was a DJ in the 70's. Of what's out now that might be considered Heavy Metal, I'll go with Mad At Gravity, Alice In Chains, Linkin Park, the occasional Drivin n' Cryin' tune, bits and pieces of Green Day, I'm not sure Jane's Addiction fits the description of Heavy Metal, they're more Speed Metal as is Offspring, ...we'll leave out Scorpions, Krokus, Motorhead, Metallica, Motley Crue and Nirvana, they've been flogged too much and they are so "last decade". Scratch Tesla and Toad, the Wet Sprocket. Trapt has a few good ones.....Just a few that I've ripped to my h/d. And where does Days Of The New fit, are they what you consider Heavy Metal?
And just to keep it in the family, my 23y.o son is now a DJ for a Classic rock station where he plays stuff he grew up with, but he listens to this decade's music. He keeps me up on what's new.

Me. I'm almost 50 and I like Disturbed (but the singer is kind of a poser) and Slipknot and Avenged Sevenfold. Rob Zombie cracks me up! Modern hard rock isn't really the same as the old stuff, but there are still some kids who know how to rock. My Chemical Romance is pretty good and so is Fallout Boy (but kinda pop) Thrash is a little too distant for me because I can't understand the lyrics (if there are any) and grunge is a little too emo for my taste. Your Yahoo music and video player will help you find music you like. Don't listen to anyone who tries to tell you what you're supposed to listen to. Keep rockin' mofo!

i don't consider any bands today to be heavy metal. Ozzy is heavy metal. guns n roses is heavy metal...most of the bands today suck. They say disturbed isn't heavy metal, because that would adulterate the genre.
