Buttered toast sounds nice, buttered muffins sounds even nicer. And a bit of butter on crumpet is good as well.

As hot as you are, it would melt. You wouldn't need to spread (the butter)

yes, but how about some peanut butter and honey instead? be careful that honey gets sticky.
