I am looking into it. It sounds good on my part. But, I have to change my phone number and it will be a number from another part of the state. We live in a small town and can't get a local number. SO when the kids' friends call us in the same town it is going to be long distance for them?? Do I have this correct?

I was told by Vonage numerous times my number or town exchange number is not available. Which stinks!!! I like the plans for me. But poor grandma will have to call me long distance and she is less than a block away!!

Yes, it will be a long distance if somebody calls you from another city. Yes, you do have this correct.

Well the biggest problem I had was they wanted to bill by credit card so I got Cable Telephone from Comcast Digital Voice. And if your telephone number is long distance area code it will be a long distance call for the others to call you but Vonage offers an unlimited long distance calling plan so they can call out unlimited.

I have Vonage and you should be able to port (carry over) your number to it. I have had fine service with Vonage but their customer service stinks. Took them 3 month to port my number. I would also suggest having a cable broadband Internet service to go with a phone over the Internet service.

Yes, I like it. I did have to work a good bit with tech support at first, to get rid of an echo, but now it is great.
