I'm buying a laptop for this fall semester. Looking at the Lenovo 3000 N100. Any experience with this line? Would a Sony or Dell perform better?

Business student, looking at a Core Duo 1.66GHz, XP Pro, 1GB Memory, 80GB Hard Drive, need to be able to run multiple office applications & quickbooks at same time - couldn't care less about gaming capabilities.

Read the Cnet Review, http://reviews.cnet.com/Lenovo_3000_N100/4505-3121_7-31756411.html

It's a good laptop. However, I think that you are paying extra for the 1GB of memory but you also have the option of getting a higher resolution display, if that is important to you then Lenovo is the way to go. If you think you can get by with the vanilla 1280 x 800 resolution present on most 15.4" displays then you might consider this Acer Aspire with most of the same features, larger hard drive and dual layer DVD burner, http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16834115246 and this is the laptop I purchased, I've never been so happy with a laptop purchase in my life and it's also cheaper than the Lenove at $1,069 (at least the last time I checked the Lenovo was more).

Lenovo bought IBM so they have a high quality foundation, that is a fast laptop you should get a laptop cooler it has fans that blow air inside to keep it cool
