I am going to use cloth diapers when my baby is born. What are your favorite brands and styles? Why? Thanks!

The fabrics of today's cloth diapers are better than when my mother used cloth diapers on me. And there are even cloth diapers that do not have to use the plastic lining over them.

People you don't let your kid wallow in its filth. When it wets its diaper you change it. The harsh chemicals in disposables cause rashes. When my mother switched me to cloth I never had a rash again.

I LOVE Kushies Ultra. I bought them on thanksmama.com. My daughter is now 9 months and I find that I have to use 2 doublers. The reason why I love these is because they go on just like a disposable. They are made of fleece so the poopies literally just roll off the diaper. They hold up really well. They do take awhile to dry in the dryer but that does not necessarily irritate me. If I had not found these diapers I probably would have used disposable, regretfully. They are that easy. They were not cheap but in the long run they have saved me $100's. I have also seen them on ebay but some people are selling used diapers. YUK. I'll buy used clothes but not used diapers.
Good for you for using cloth!!!!!!!!
I must add after reading some of the responses that first of all cloth diapers are not nasty if you keep them clean. Disposable are nasty with all the chemicals and then human feces end up in our landfills and not the sewer. Their are so many choices of cloth diapers today that EVERYONE should look into them. My daughter has never had diaper rash or anything. Her pediatrician was impressed and so were the nurses. Yes, you do have to change them more often but YUK if you let your child pee several times in a disposable.

Personally, I liked the plain Chinese prefolds. They are the least expensive, and one size will work the entire time your baby is in diapers. I used wool diaper covers because--among other reasons--some of my kids had artificial fiber allergies.
I *never* used paper diapers. I wasn't going to put paper clothes on my babies!! Cloth travels just fine; I spent up to a full week away from home and all washing machines with no problems. And cloth reduces the likelihood of diaper rash.

I am going with cloth too!
after reasearching I have decided wool soakers are the way to go (they don't need to be washed often because they are self cleaning and are much less likely then plastic pants or disposables to cause yeast diaper rash)
I think I am going with prefolds under them but not sure yet (I sew so it will save alot to make my own)
you can find cheep used cloath diapers of all kinds on ebay to allow you to try different brands and find what works for you

Curity with the extra padding through the middle. I used cloth diapers with my son for a while. If you don't like any of the ones in the store, use a diaper service. The all in ones were just coming out when he was about 2. I used those to potty train him. It was so easy and a lot cheaper than pull ups. Better for the environment. Thanks for doing that.

That's great that you are going the cloth diaper route!
I don't have any suggestions on a brand, but wanted to say, check out some of the cute covers at the link below. They have a broad selection of covers and soakers. Good luck! And congrats on the soon to be new edition to the family!

Towelling nappies/diapers, lol.........thought they'd died out now.
I used them for four of my kids, well most of the time and it encouraged me to start potty training early, and to allow them to roam bare botty most of time too.
My forth child was only 5lbs 2 when born and I had to do the japanese fold, tiny little dolly she was.
I have to say, I used disposables with my second round of kids, towellings are hard work...oh I had no washing machine that's why it was such a grotty job, lmol
Good luck, it did save me a lot of money because I had three within two years and then my forth a year after that.

If you want to use your own and not a service, look for ProService brand. They are regular pre-folds and require pins and rubber pants over top, but they last like iron and are very soft and absorbant, and cheap enough to buy plenty so you dont have to wash EVERY day. If you want info on other brands, email me and I can connect you with a friend who has tried every brand of pre-fold and velcro there is. Good for you for planning on cloth - nothing is better for baby!

Why would you do that? Cloth diapers are nasty. You have to use rubber pants to keep them from leaking at night and there is nothing in them to pull the wetness away from the babies skin.

I didn't use clothe. But stay away from parent choice diapers. They have a really ruff padding inside.

the only cloth diapers i found were burp cloths. but you want the ones that are really soft. there are some that have a rough texture. and get rubber pants to go over them. risky move using cloth, good luck.
