Bottles of odorless mineral spirits are available in the paint section of any home improvement shop or even Wal-Mart. Just stretch on plastic gloves, grab an old spare rag and rub the mineral spirits over the stripped wood. Odorless Mineral Spirits also help protect the wood and get it ready for staining.

This will raise the grain on the wood and you just have to sand it after it is dry. Read what the stripper directions say, they might have information or suggestions for getting off any remaining residue.

I usually use laquer thinner or turpentine, depending on what the can of stripper says.
