I find 'political correctness' a false premise. If a joke is funny, it is immaterial whether it is about an Irishman, an Englishman or a Scotsman. If it is stupid, it is stupid - full stop. The most distinguishing feature of a white man amongst a group of black men is the fact that he is white and likewise with a black man in a group of white men. It is absolutely ridiculous to speak of the big man with the red tie - you ask who is the big white man or the big black man. Likewise, Asians do not like being called 'black' and resent being called thus. The sooner the better we use proper English and not hide behind so called 'P.C.' the better. The Chairman of a board of directors has always been Chairman, whether or not the post is held by a woman. On the opposite side of the coin, I am totally against racism, sexism and all the other isms. I have, and will continue to do so, held my corner when racists speak badly of any race, but I will not do it for the sake of 'P.C'. I do it out of decency. I have also always believed that in many cases, the best man for a job is a woman.
