i heard it started in Panama then Puerto Rico had it's own take on it. It really doesn't matter where it started. The argument sounds like the same argument people have about where Hip Hop started. Same thing it does not matter.

Just as long as the music sounds good and the people are making the music because they love it, it's all good.

Peace.

Well if u know the damn answer why you are asking? And I didn´t know that reggaeton came from Panama. I thought that Puerto Rico was the creator of that Creature of the Hell.

So Jamaica gets no credit at all, huh? Go listen to some old Shabba Ranks stuff... Jamaica invented reggae and guys like Shabba and the rest of that dancehall stuff is pretty much the blueprint for reggaeton. They just speeded it up a little...

Puerto Rico... yeahhhh.....but Jamaica should get MOST credit though. because the whole reggae movement started in Jamaica.
Along with Panama,Barbados, the whole island theme.
One thing I can say for sure is I had sooo much fun @ the Puerto Rican Day Parade!

Reggaeton has roots in Puerto Rican bomba, west African highlife and Dominican merengue just to name a few, with some heathy doses of Jamaican dancehall as well. It originated in Florida and New York.

Puerto Rico is not where it came from. its called reggaeton because they took the jamaican beats ( reggea ) and mixed with the two most popular Puerto Ricos salsa, and Republica Dominicana's merenge ( but they also mix with cuban flava and so on ) . they mixed el sabor latino with the jamaican beats and thats how it came to be.

Probably whichever country it originated from, there were other influences that contributed to it...
Yeah, reggaeton can be cool sometimes.
