Acoustic Ceilings and walls is the trick!

This website has a nice array of products.
Perhaps call a recording studio and talk to them about the manufacturer that they used for their soundproofing system!
Otherwise, if you're looking for a more practical solution, put drapes on your windows. The fabric will help absorb sound!

if you really want a "soundproof" room it won't be cheap. You basically have to build a room inside of a room. 4 new walls six inches in from the existing walls with foam insulation between them. This also means two doors, the inside door swinging in and the outside door swinging out. The ceiling has to be dropped six inches with foam in between, and the floor has to be raised six inches with rubber gaskets between the bolts that fasten it to the existing floor and should be finished with a 3/8 inch floating cork floor.
Otherwise just cover all the walls and ceiling with egg cartons.

Insulation. We remodeled and put thick insulation on all 4 walls of our bedroom. Now, I can go to bed and the kids don't bother me at all.Cant hear the television in the very next room either.

The padding under the carpet works the best. I used double back tape to attach it to the walls.

We used 8" thick slabs of styrofoam, about the size of Plywood. Works Perfect.....for our "Jam Room"

Blow in insulation in the walls would be the least noticeable.
None of these methods will eliminate sounds, but will greatly deaden them.
