huh?
I must have missed something. OK, I'll call you on this. Ask a question about any commonly held view that "conservatives" have about "liberals". (such as "all liberals want are hand outs" or "liberals are too lazy to hold a job" or "liberals hate Bush for no reason", or even "The New York Times is a part of the liberal media and is out to destroy the Bush administration because they hate him.") If you make a statement, provide links to back up your statement. (as usual, links to freerepublic, redstate, drudge, fox "news", newsmax, or any other blatantly biased right-wing nut site will be laughed at and ignored.) If you back up what you say with indisputable facts about all liberals, that anyone can link to and read the context for themselves, then you'll have proved my ignorance, and I'll be happy to admit as much.
By the way, one thing you can never do is give me my freedom. It's not yours to give, silly.

I think it's safe to say from many of the posts and answers on here that there is plenty of ignorance from people of BOTH ideologies, be it liberal or conservative. When you challenge a conservative's ignorance with facts, they just scream "libtard" or call you "unpatriotic" or a "baby-killer" or a "coward" or some such spin-off of those.
That said, I'm not sure about the persons you are referring to. What freedom are they referring to? Freedom of speech, freedom of religion, right to assemble, etc. I've seen some posts referring to what people feel is a conservative attempt to infringe on some of these freedoms, not take them away. For example, I've seen posts which suggest an attempt to impose Christianity on non-Christians. I've seen posts in which someone may have mentioned they felt calling someone unpatriotic for not agreeing with the government was an attempt to stifle free speech. That's about it.

I'm more liberal than Al Sharpton, and I would never say that.
I don't think stereotypes are really the answer. Perhaps the question should be rephrased, so to not instigate more one-line ignorant responses from either side, as:
"Why is it that when you challenge some people's ignorance, they say you aren't giving them their freedom?"
By not targeting a whole group, you help to bridge the gaps between liberals and conservatives and foster a more intelligent dialog. Just my two cents.

You cant take someones first amendment freedom without taking your own. And it wont be missed by people like you till its gone. If you are will to have you freedom taken away you don't deserve it and you forget the death of the Marines and Soldier's price that paid for it. You are probably the same person that want to remove Saddam from power yet your opinion on this matter would be shared by him I think.

You're free to say whatever you want in this country, as long as it isn't outright slander. I'm free to do the same.
You're also free to disagree with me, and I with you. But disagreement is not, never has been, and never shall be, the same as threatening or infringing upon someone's freedom. That's the thing about free speech that people on both sides tend to forget: with the freedom of speech comes the responsibility of bearing the consequences of that speech.
I may think you're wrong, I may think you're flat-out stupid, but damned if I'm going to let anyone stop you from saying what you need to say, whether you're a liberal, conservative, or something else entirely.

Can you give direct examples of this? I don't think anyone has said that you personally were trying to take people's freedoms away. They might say that you would like to, but that's a completely different statement.
And can you give examples of you using facts to "challenge a liberal's ignorance"? Or is it that if someone doesn't agree with your opinion, that makes them ignorant?
Methinks the latter is the case.

Becuase Liberals are the ones who are ABUSING their freedom of speech, and they know it. So they have to fight back viciously and make themselves look like the victim before anyone can think about who is actually being the oppressor.

why do you ask questions that further divide AMERICANS??
if conservatives would stop pitting us against each other we might actually start having real discussions about real issues affecting america today.
your president said he was the uniter and not the divider....yet we are divider now more than ever before... yet you spew non-sense about how wrong liberals are and how right you are..... maybe you need to get your head out of the president's A S S or out of your own!!!!!

Because when you impose your views on them, you are taking away their right to be themselves, and while it works both ways, the liberal viewpoint is live and let live, while the conservative viewpoint is to submit to strict and unrealistic rules, or else.
Also, while you may not be able to do so legally, it doesn't mean that you're not doing it defacto everytime you say that someone else's views or lifestyle is unacceptable.
