I don't have much programming experience, so making a basic version of the game would be difficult. Any advice, contacts, etc would be welcome.

Start writing things down on paper. Something concrete. If you can get a storyboard artist and an animator for your rendering of characters and atmosphere that would be great. The whole idea is to get something created instead it just being an idea in your head. It will help you make modifications later as well. Tweak it up to enhance it or simply it to the industry standards. I advise you go to a school that specializes in video game development or at least go to a community college and take digital media arts to get a head start on presentation.

First you should try to find a skilled programmer that can help you out, to make a demo, then try to sell the idea to a game company. That way you may have something to show, it doesn't matter if the graphics ain't that good or you don't have a complete video game.

This might not work but you can try contacting game companies or mailing them the idea. Or you can take a course that might help you learn to create games.
