I think he just got a stylist because he's looking hotter than ever lately. The bangs rock and he looks so hot when he flips them back and forth during live performances. Ohhhh Davey!

It's all simply a matter of personal preference. I actually have short hair and guys such as it. And i prefer a person with short hair over a person with long hair because long hair tends to make guys look as well girly.
