For my boyfriend...
A one night trip to LA in a nice hotel and concert tickets to this band he likes, with nice dinner and stuff (all paid by me)
or
2 nights in LA so we can shop and stuff in a not as nice hotel, still go to the concert, just splurge a little less on dinner and stuff
He is a lawyer and makes way more than me, I am way broke, but want to do something nice!!
Which trip would you rather have?
Really nice and short
or a little longer but a little cheaper

If your really broke then why is any of this something you need to do? I understand he's your bf and you want to treat him to something special. But what about a nice dinner, a bubble bathe for the two of you with candles (if your intimate)
be creative. this doesn't mean blowing your rent money for next month. I have no idea where you live. So are there no live events in your area? a sports event? a drive to the beach?
my birthday is tomorrow. and i would rather have my family spend the time to do a few things instead of me doing them all for them.
Think twice before breaking the bank. You can have fun on a budget. This birthday may only come once this year. but if he's somebody serious you will have MANY birthday together to enjoy.

Short and nice. A birthday gift is something that you wouldn't have if it weren't for the occasion (a splurge-if you will). You should treat yourselves to the finer things in life every once in a while. Do things out of the ordinary. You probably see eachother everyday. Go all out for the one day!

i say stay longer...i swear the trendy dinner spots in la are overrated anyways...im sure u can find a awesome place to eat and not have to spend almost 200 bucks on dinner.....def stay longer and enjoy the surroundings...

i would chose the second one so you guys could enjoy the time there more even if it means a little less on dinner.
