I don't really understand anti-spy. Could you explain it (in lament terms.)
What is it looking for and what about cookies?
How do I get rid of cookies?
How often should I run anti-spy?

Thank you so much for your help.

the definition has been explained but I'll suggest some of the more popular ones.

spybot search and destoy
spyware blaster
ad-aware

you can download these at download.com OR majorgeeks.com

Now as far as cookies are concerned, you don't have to delete them unless you want the extra hard drive space. they're just files that give a history about your surfing habits, perfectly safe, but annoying nonetheless. I'd be more concerned about protecting your computer against spyware, adware, malware, and viruses. You can worry about cookies later.

I am no a computer expert, but as I understand it.....spy programs install themselves on your computer and track what you do and/or where you go and report it back to ad companies or the like so they can do targeted pop-up marketing. Some spies however have much more malicious goals. Cookies are traces from sites you visit. Cookies can be deleted by going into Tools>Internet Options>General>Delete Cookies. For more information in clear terms and some links to good anti-spy programs, go to Komando.com (she is a computer guru of sorts). Hope this helps.
