What does the mucus plug look like? And what kind of discharge is normal for pregnancy- especially getting closer to delivery?

If you pass it and see it you will definitely know. Some people just loose part of it then the other part later. You do not want to see any dark discharge that could be bad. You should read that book what to expect when your expecting. If you are late in the pregnancy and you have liquid coming out you water could be partially broke. That happened to me and I thought the baby was just stepping on my bladder when I was sleeping. If your water is broke they generally like to get the baby out within 24 hours. Also if you are dilating there is usually a little bit of blood when you wipe yourself. If it were me and I had these questions I would just call and talk with the nurse at my doctors office.

From what I understand, the mucous plug looks like, well, snot, really. Sometimes it will be tinged with blood. It may all come out at once or it may be more gradual. However, if you think you've lost yours you may want to call your doctor.
Everyone is different, but a fair amount of discharge is usually normal during pregnancy. If yours seems unusual somehow (odd color, bad smell) you might want to call your doctor to check for an infection.
From what I understand, the amount of discharge increases as you get closer to delivering.

Like white yellow Mucus with a little blood alomst like a discharge.

Mine looked like giant globs of pink snot....
Excess discharge is very normal in pregnancy, though if it's suddenly more than usual you should get it checked to make sure you aren't leaking amniotic fluid.

I think mine came out in pieces. I noticed a bit of brown tinged goo and I went into labor 6 days later.

a mucous plug looks like a yellow tinged glob of jelly type stuff. it may or may not come out all at once. it can loosen and come out as slimy feeling discharge.

it looks slimy white with some blood in it,u usually pass it right before ur about to go into labor amybe a day or so before ur water breaks.......as for discharge everbody is different

For me it looked like rubber cement when it's wet.
It came out in a big clump in my panties. I had the baby three days later.

slimy big glob of mucous--you will know it when it comes out--most women have discharge when pregnant but every one is different--if there is something that you are not too sure about, call your dr for advise--good luck

For me it always looked like if I blew my nose and had a few strands of blood in it.
