Yes, you can see small amounts of seafood, but don't overdo it! Avoid tuna altogether...crab and shrimp are on the low end of the mercury amounts so go ahead and have about 12 oz. per WEEK...most fish is best avoided, unless you check with your ob/gyn first. They should have a list of what seafood is acceptable and how much, and which seafood should be totally avoided...basically it's the mercury that is the potential problem maker. Naturally, make sure everything is well cooked, nothing raw, NO SUSHI! You don't want to take any chances with introducing any bacteria at this point. Good luck!!!

It is best to avoid fish that contain high levels of Mercury as this can cause birth defects if to much is eaten. If you do eat fish with higher mercury levels do not eat more than 2 servings per week to reduce the risk of defects. Just find some info on which seafood has the highest levels of Mercury and try to limit those in your diet during pregnancy.

All you can really eat is chunk light tuna fish and it can be one or two small cans per week. It has the lowest amount of mercury in it. You can't eat lobster, crab, shrimp, or any really big fish.

I think it's okay. Just watch out for long living fish such as Tuna and Salmon. They contain mercury which can effect you and your child. I was born with a VERY high level of mercury in my brain that wasnt discovered until much later. Also watch out for dangerous fish like blowfish.

This is a question for your doctor because only he or she knows if you have allergies or special conditions that would make eating seafood hazardous for you and the baby.
