College professors have great jobs! great bennefits (dental, health, pet insurance, everything). The pay is also very good, you could start at $60k and work up to over $100k if you become a coordinator or dean. the draw back is all the time you spend in school before you get there. you will spend 4 years for an undergraduate degree, 1 or 2 years on a masters ( my degree is biology and that is 2 years, but many liberal arts type majors are 1), and after that you could teach if you can find a job with just your masters, but most schools are looking for you to have a PHD. So you would have to go to school for a long time, but once your done you have a great job!

by the way most people change what career they want at some point in tme before they finish college. I thought I knew exactly what my career would be when I graduated from high school, but by the end of college I was going a completely diferent direction.

Hi Dee, its great that you started thinking of that now. Teachers do not really make much on salary. You will have benefits as far as medical insurance but the way laws are changing now there is no telling what the situation will be by the time you finish your school and be ready to teach. But that is not a profession in which you can make tons of money. Most college professors have real jobs on the side, where tehy make their money, and they teach because they love to do it. Very few these days depend entirely on the salary from the school.
