There is no private property. everything belongs to the state, people work in the state businesses and the state provides for everything for everyone for free (education, health, etc). Inherent advantages: no insecurity for job, house, etc, and no exploitation of land, workers, etc. Inherent disadvantages: utopic system as it proved to be, no possibility for personal achievement, improvement of life status, basically no possibility for wealth. Plus the state )(government is too powerful and can oppress the citizen without control).

Communism is a system of government that calls for an end to any type of class system, meaning that everyone would be equal. Another fundamental priniciple of Communism is the abolition of private property in exchange for state run industy that is supplied with labor from the people.

The Communist system of government was pioneered by a German man Karl Marx in the 1800's. He thought that eventually there would be a world revolution and that the entire world would embrace Communism. His ideas were utilized by Vladimir Lenin during the Russian Revolution in the early 1900's to aid in the creation of the Soviet Union.

The opposite of Communism is Capitalism which calls for no government control of industry, which generally results in a very wealthy class and a very poor class. Most modern governments have a mix of both, with privately owned but government regulated industry.

It is important to note that no Communist government has ever succeeded because human nature generally gets in the way of total equality.

It is a political theory that people will work because they want to, and that they don't need money or everyone gets the same wage no matter what they do. The problem is that you have to put someone in power to set the system up, and the system isn't very flexable to things like crops not growing.
Real comunism has never been put into place.
Why the US and other places have a problem with it I don't know other than it makes it hard to do business with a country where everything has a set value and it has nothing to do with supply and demand.

Basically communism is equality among citizens. Noone gets better treatment than anyone else, and I belive it is also with free medical care and such. As well as a salary cap. Where noone can make more than a certain amount for a salary. It is a fabulous idea, but will never work right.

I'll do even better. I'll give you a simple definition of communism, socialism, and capitalism.

Communism- You have two cows and the government takes both of them from you and gives you a little milk occasionally.

Socialism- You have two cows and the government takes one of them and gives it to your neighbor. You get nothing in return.

Capitalism- You have two cows. You trade one of them for a bull. You breed the cow and it has a calf. You can sell the calf and the government taxes you on the profit. You can trade the calf for another cow (don't want to inbreed). You can raise the calf and butcher it and eat the meat.

That's the simplist explaination I know of.

From each, according to their abilities; to each, according to their needs.

So, you help those who are less fortunate if you can, for example, produce more food than you need and give it to that family who has a barn full of kids but can't farm anywhere near as good as you can.

It is put into the community fund (The Commune, so to speak) and everyone draws from it.

The basis of the communism is simply " working for the good of the community, not the individual".

Communism in its purest form is the participation of all citizens in a common government, sharing all goods and services.

Naturally, Communism like Democracy has rarely succeeded in its purest form.
