there are may ways:
Electricity
1. Batteries
2. Capacitors
3. Charge collectors (Example, A Van der Graff generator[the ball that makes your hair stand on end when you touch it])
Energy in general:
1. Springs (Coiled, extended, compressed)
2. heated objects
3. putting on object at a higher location.
4. many more!

interesting ways of storing energy that doesn't involve electricity:
a town in the northwest of the US pumped water up into a high altitude lake during a time when power was abundant. they brought it down past a hydroelectric dam when power was scarce so that it would generate electricity (and also give fresh water).
a new hybrid diesel truck made by Eaton corp uses regenerative braking to supply pressure to hydraulic pistons. when a truck with this engine stops, the braking action pressurizes the pistons, which when the accelerator is depressed again, open up and provide power to the truck's drivetrain.
keeping ions in close proximity also stores energy. some spacecraft have been proposed that would use this technique. very very small amounts of energy though...

Batteries, of course.
Some hydroelectric plants use their excess capacity in the off-peak hours to pump water up into their reservoirs.
Electrolysis of water to make hydrogen converts electricity into chemical potential energy which is recovered when the hydrogen is burned.
Winding a mechanical clock movement stores energy.
A tank of compressed air can be used to run a motor.
Flywheels can store mechanical energy for relatively short periods of time.
