Many people believe that computers are evil and that if they had never been invented, then the world would be a better place. Because of all the scams that are appearing due to the access of the internet i.e. ( identity theft, child pornography, and many other things that cant be prevented or stopped), do you think that computers are a source of good or evil? Personally, I dont think computers are evil. However, what I do believe is because of the misuse of computers by some people, that they have caused many people to discontinue using the computer as much as they once were. What do you think?

i think that computers aid the evil. I think that the world would be better if not everyone had access to computers. Computers are good for work, but not recreation. Anyone can pretend to be anyone, and try to sell you something or steal your information. Dumb people can appear smart with a keyboard and google. I believe computers will contribute to the downfall of our society. Wheather a computer is responsible for corruption of government, stealing of information, or secrets, or launching weapons of mass destruction, computers made it easier for society to destroy itself.

I know for a fact; If a person spends most of; if not all there time on computers and gets upset or mad at a person for questioning what they are doing or up too ... something may not be right ... the atmostshpere changes not as cheery as it was before has a creepiness of wrong... majority of this world is evil ...so are people... its hard not to loose control of oneself when others don't help you understand computers... so yes in ways I do believe computers are evil

Well, most of those things you listed - Identity theft, child pornography, etc. were already rampant before the advent of the computer. What you have to remember is that a computer is nothing more than a fast idiot, it can only be as smart as the person behind the keys. It's not the computer that's evil - they lack the ablility to be, it's the human that operates them that determines what they are used for. :)

People invented computers, they are just devices, so they are not evil. As for scams and pornography, both of been around before computers, before railroads, before the Americas were found, go back through history "evil" has always been around. Scammers, pornographers, thiefs and more.
But if you ask me while I working on my Print program and it shuts the computer down or locks up, then I might say computers are evil.

I believe people are evil,not usually things. The person ON the computer can control IT,and MAKE it evil,but a computer is just that,a computer

It is not the sword that cuts off the head that kills the man but the hand that wields the sword that does this.
If not on the net, child porn would be there, albeit in another form. Identity theft would not be digital, but it would be there. All the "evils" we see on the net would still be there, but in another medium.
The Computer is just an overgrown abacus.
It's not evil, its the user who's evil

I agree, the computer isn't evil, it's just people that are abusing them for evil things. I personally couldn't live without my computer now that I'm so attached to it. For work, play, and everything else I do a lot on my computer.

every single device has both side effect. Let's say opium; in early time or even now, it's used as a kind of medicine. But what happen when it's misused?
every product is a thing... no life, no mobility. it's what it is! It's not evil or angel; but it's human who is evil. It's human who take control and misuse it.

you can get good things and bad things from a computer, you have to think if the good out weighs the bad and decide if you want to discontinue using a computer (which I don't believe anyone does now a days) but you could be strong with yourself and not do anything crazy with a computer

Computers are not evil, as they have no consciousness and have no ability to discern reality. People are evil, since they know their actions are bad and do them anyway. Evil deeds can also be aided using other items, yet those are not considered "evil." So, computers are not evil.
