I think Haiti is a nation with a lengthy, complex history and culture. The country has enormous potential.
However, since the time of Columbus, I think external political and economic forces have repeatedly raped Haiti and the Haitian people.
My opinion may sound harsh, but I think it is supported by even a cursory review of Haiti's history over the past several decades. I wish I could be more positive about Haiti's future... but there's little to be positive about (especially given the Bush administration's schizophrenic foreign policy towards the island).
Actually, I think it's most likely that Royal Caribbean will buy Haiti in the near future, deport all the citizens, and turn the island into an amusement park.
(I wish I could say that last comment was a joke)

I don't think very much about it, I know some what about it. I know some Haitian and they are very smart and hard working. Their culture comes from the African believes and some are also mixed up with Dominicans cause they share the same island. Also alot of Caribbean islands have taken up some of the African culture and stuff.
