first of all, avoid using products formulatted with mineral oil and animal products. These do not get absorbed by the skin and what it does is that it clogs your pores. In fact mineral oil is the 2nd worse thing you could do to your skins health #1 is the sun, it is like rubbing car oil on your skin and exposing yourself to the sun... Animal product come form rendering plants, these plants pick all dead animals from the road, meatmarkets etc and what they do is put them in a huge pot and squash everything inside and boil it the oil that comes to the top is what other companies use to formulate their "beauty" products ... gross i know.. eww lipstick and aghhh .. anyway, the important thing to do is read your ingredients and use the right ones regularly .... also bathing daily cleanses the skin, but it also can dry it out, causing it to look dull, but most importantly, it may cause irritation and remove the natural emolients your body produces to keep it healthy. When you bathe, always use a moisture-rich cleanser, and always pamper your skin with a daily moisturizer. I use arbonne products....http://arbonnepuertorico.myarbonne.com (under shop online) ....because they are botanically based and you could really see the difference, i had acne and lots of blemishes and my skin has cleared so much, it really is amazing and they have everything for everybody.... theire deep pore cleansing mask and their scrub is just perfect for eliminating the blackheads. Also their face wash is great because it cleanses without drying and removes all traces of makeup and dirt.... works wonderful for me and the bes thing is that you could shop online, receive it in your house and if ther is something you do not like about the products which is rarely to happen, you return the item and they give your money back .... also check this site from the fox news about toxins in beauty products.....

you have tried Proactive and it didn't work?! not even help a little?wow! ya know, maybe you are putting to much stuff on your face at once and its bringing out the oil and making it worse.just give you skin a brake for a day or two. do not use regular soap on it!! i used to have a real bad acne problem too and these are all of the things that i have done and now my skin is beautiful. I would rinse my face with salt water. the salt drys you skin out so no oil is being absorbed. laying out in the sun or start going tanning. don't really know why but that has been working for me all summer. don't eat greasy food at all!! it makes it so much worse. drink plenty of water. the water helps from the inside out. and i have used all of the over the counter stuff too and nothing had worked for me but, bore'a anti-blackhead cream cleanser. its expensive like $6 but it works great for me. just use it twice a day. if your a girl, don't where make-up for a while and try all of these things. good luck. these worked for me so give it a shot OK.

Sometimes acne is a result of hormonal changes or related to stress. If so, you can try to find some way to relax, like yoga.

Other times, it is a sign that your body is not getting rid of toxins properly, which means you aren't getting enough fiber or dehydrated. If this is the case you need to incorporate more vegetables into your diet and drink a minimum of 8 glasses of water a day.

If you find that your skin becomes overly dry after using all those products, you may be irritating your skin, causing it to overproduce oils to make up for the lost moisture. If so, try using those products only at night and washing your face only with water in the morning.

I had the same problems and made these changes with great results. You might want to incorporate more cold-water fish into your diet, like salmon and mackerel.

Good luck!

Sounds like what I went thru last year.

I found this product called Carley's Clear and Smooth and it made the world of difference for me.

It's only 2 products- a natural soap and scrub.
You use the soap and scrub when you take your shower and just the soap the other time.

It's very reasonable and the soap and scrub will last 3 to 4 months.

It does come with 100% guarantee that is good till you use all the product

Remember their is no cure for acne, only treatment. With any product you will have to continue the use or the acne may come back.

Their website is http://samus.securehbs.com/~clearand/store/index.php

Try this:
change your pillow case once every two days...wash it in hot water with a detergent that is for sensitive skin and don't use fabric softener
wash your face only twice per day, unless you do sports and sweat a lot. Wash it in the morning with a mild cleanser like cetaphil and wash it right before bed with a stronger, salicylic acid wash and then with a scrub (like an apricot scrub, but not the medicated type)
And, use a lightweight SPF lotion. I like Dove. Lotions actually help to protect your skin from outside elements and if you use an SPF, your protecting it in more ways then trying to prevent zits.
I don't know if I'm just lucky, but while I was in high school I could count the total number of zits I had on one hand...now, I hardly ever get them. If I do, I know I waited too long to change my pillow case.

I honestly have tried many washes, and cleansers myself. They all dont work, or dry out my skin, and make it red and blotchy. I ended up going to the dermatologist, because I also have mild acne on my back and it was getting worse. They put me on Adoxa (150 mg) which basically clears out your skin from the inside out (very effective) and Im also using Duac Topical Gel, which I use every night after washing my face with a gentle Lotion/Cleanser (which you might want to try) called SFC Lotions Gentle soap-free cleanser this is the first cleanser I have been able to use on my face that is very gentle (almost like washing with just water) and removes make up without drying out my skin. I suggest making an appointment with your local dermatologist and getting a prescription. It may take up to a couple of months to get rid of acne, but it does work if you use to products properly hope i could help :) and btw it has been proven that washing your face does not get rid of acne

Have you checked your diet? A lot of extra starch can cause breakouts. You want to wash your face 2X daily with a cleanser that is for oily/combo skin also. Proactive used benzoyle peroxide, you might want to try something with salicylic acid instead and see if that helps any. Worst case scenario, you might have to get an antibiotic.
