there is no way in hell you are going to lose 30 pounds before September. Just telling you the truth. However, if you are on a healthy diet and start to walk everyday, even a slow jog 30 minutes a day then you could potentially lose around 10 pounds before school starts. also don't worry about weight in high school that much, middle school is the worst to be chubby, but iin high school its not that bad, plus i know sooo many girls that have gained weight in high school... and what yopu say abou the athletic thing.. i have never heard of an athletic person weighing only 110 pounds. Muscle ways more than fat, and very good athletes have a shatload of muscle. and don't focus that much on ur weight, and more on schoolwork!!! the next 4 years are going to get crazy hard and for me it gets hard to find time for the gym cause of all the studying!

You should definitely listen to your doctor. He or she is correct, 278 pounds is a hazardous to your health.
I've been helping people stay healthy for a bit more than two decades (20 years) and I can tell you that losing weight requires a combination of both exercise and caloric restriction but with a proper nutrition balance. If you want to lose weight in a healthy manner, keep the following in mind:
1) Check with your physician to be certain that you are physically able to reduce your calories and increase your exercise habits safely.
2) Make certain that the calories you are eating are as balanced as possible. Finding out how much protein, carbs, and fats your body needs on a daily basis can really help keep your energy levels high all day long. The #1 reason my clients tell me that they've stopped dieting or exercising in the past is because of low energy ebbs. Also remember that you may need supplements to help things along.
3) While exercising (before, during, and after) be sure to consume enough water. The key is not to be 'thirsty' (overtly) during this time of exercise.
4) Adding weight bearing exercise (i.e., lifting weights) will help to tone your body and the thermogenic (fat burning) effect will last long after you've stopped working out -- even if your workout is simply walking).
5) Remember that you'll probably hit plateaus (times when you'll stop losing weight) several times during your weight loss progress. This is completely normal and is only temporary but it can last for a couple of weeks at a time. It is very important to remember that even if your scale isn't showing progress, your entire body is being positively effected by your efforts.
6) Measure different parts of your body (neck, upper arms, lower arms, chest, abs, waist, belly, butt, thighs, etc.) and do it accurately. Write these measurements down and check them once every 2 weeks. This will help you remember that your body is 'reducing' all over -- not just in one particular area. If you're weight training you may actually notice a slight increase in some areas of your body (don't worry -- if you're a woman you won't start looking like a bodybuilder).
7) Keep focused on your end goal and concentrate on losing maybe 1 pound a week -- sometimes you'll lose more, sometimes less. As long as it's an average, it's okay.
8) Lastly, remember that you're doing a WONDERFUL thing for your body.
Keep up the good work. I've worked with hundreds of people in the past 20 years (mostly women) who have lost (individually) HUNDREDS of pounds safely. Better still, they've kept it off -- Kay lost over 350 pounds and has been at her goal weight for 7 years now.
As for what to take, that depends entirely on what your body needs. Anyone who suggests that you take something that 'works for everyone' is either confused or deluded. For example, if you had a twin brother or sister your bodies could react completely different to certain supplements or foods on a metabolic level. If you want to learn more about what you might want to take you can visit my site (below).
Any questions, don't hesitate to write and ask.

Try a sensible diet and exercise. The best diet would be the diabetic diet, which allows you to eat the foods on the food pyramid, spread out over the course of the day. By eating three small meals and three snacks over the course of the day, you don't get so hungry. So over the course of the day, you get 7 oz. of lean meat, 3 fruits, 2 vegetables, 3 servings of milk, 7 servings of carbohydrates (15 carbs per serving--such as a slice of bread or 3/4 cup of cereal), and 3 servings of fats (6 grams each, such as 1 pat of butter, 1 tablespoon of salad dressing, etc). Check your food labels to see how much of each you can have. Don't try starvation diets or any of that--you need a long term approach. And don't expect to lose weight immediately and rapidly--if you lose 1 to 1 1/2 pounds per week, you are more likely to keep it off.

I do a program called T-Tapp that honestly works and is very low impact. It works on increasing your muscle density so the stronger you get, the less you have to do it because every excercise becomes more effective. You will begin losing sizes right away and they will keep dropping off. I started out doing it an hour a day, now I do maybe 15 min. to an hour a few times a week. It has honestly changed my life and if you are interested, you can go to www.t-tapp.com.

First of all you must be serious and determined to lose weight. You must have a disciplined approach to lose weight, something like 5 pounds per month. Basically you must spend more calories than you take in. So eat less of calories and do aerobic exercises. Start walking long distances or join a gym. You may consult a professional if need be. You may need to forego many of the junk foods you are used to and may also need some food supplements to take care of malnutrition. Please get yourself checked medically to see that there are no imbalances in your hormones.

really what weight would you be comfortable at? because my dr. says that i am 35 pds overweight. and my normal weight should be around 120. if i weighed 120 pds, i would look like i was on crack. so dont always go w/ what the dr. says. i have lost 17 pds. already. just by taking walks , drinking lots of water and dont eat right before you go to bed at night. i have 10 more pds to go . so wish me luck as i am w/ you. and i am joining weight watchers as well. men and women alike get really great results. you can contact me if you have any questions or need support chat or email or something. i will send email if you respond to me.

Don't go into a crash diet or start exercising like crazy because your body is not used to it. and your going to end up hurting your muscles or dumping the diet and gaining more weight. Ease into a little change. Eat like you normally do but just cut everything in half. if you ate say a whole plate of food, take off exactly half. ate two hot dogs only eat one , so on so on. make water you best friend
diet is good but diet and exercise is even better. Like i said before don't go crazy on the exercise because your not used to it yet. Start extending everything you do. If you take your car or hop on the metro to run errands then try to go on foot, or try going on bike so that you do what you need to do, but your working out while doing it. instead of taking elevators head on up the stairs.
take the change little by little and youl see improvement. you can join a gym a as well, just dont go crazy

About 9 yrs ago I decided I wanted to get in shape. I dropped 42 lbs and did it by walking, then jogging and eventually running as my primary form of excercize. I also changed my diet and cut my portions in half. I eat 6-8 small meals during the day and I burn more than I take in. Because of the amount of running I do, I'm able now to eat pretty much anything I want to. :) So if you love food like I do, running is the way to go. :)

if it look good to you than hell with it, now if its a health risk than take the doctors advice and loose it. But if you are comfortable and you know you fine than be a winner. 278 is kind of big, i'll try and loose at least 78 of those pounds.
