5/3x + 1 = -1
5/3x = -2
3x/5 = -1/2
3x = -5/2
x = -5/6
3/x + 1/6 ??
3/4y - 1/2 = 5/8y + 1/10
6/8y - 5/8y = 1/10 + 5/10
1/8y = 6/10 = 3/5
8y = 5/3
y = 5/24

Hi:
Here my answer :
problem #1 :
5/3 x + 1 = -1
-1 + 1 + 5/3x = -1 + -1
5/3x= -2
(3/5) (5/3)x= -2* (3/5)
x = -6/5
proof:
-6/5*5/3 = 1 = -1
-30/15 +1= -1
-2+1= -1
-1 = -1
answer correct
#2 ) Can not answer #2 not equal to something?
3/4y - 1/2 = 5/8y + 1/10 orignal equation
-5/8y + 3/4y - 1/2 = -5/8y + 5/8y + 1/10 arranging like terms
-5/8y +3/4y-1/2 = 1/10 simpilying equation
1/2 + -5/8y= 3/4 y -1/2 = 1/10 + 1/2 arranging like terms again
-5/8 + 3/4y = 1/10 + 1/2 Simplying equation
-5/8 + (2/2)*3/4= 1/10 + (5/5)*1/2 Property of one and trying to get common denimetor
-5/8y + 6/8 = 1/10 + 5/10 simpliying equation again
1/8 y = 6/10 addition of terms
8* 1/8y = 8* 6/10 reciprocal property
y= 48/10 simiplying terms
y = 4 8/10 division
y= 4 4/5 reducing faction to it lowest terms
Proof :
3/4y - 1/2 = 5/8y + 1/10 orignal equation
3/4( 48/10) -1/2= 5/8 (48/10) + 1/10 substution
3*48/ 4*10 -1/2= 5*48/10*8 + 1/10 multiplication
144/40 -1/2 = 240/80 + 1/10 simplity equation
144/40 - (20/20)*1/2 = 240/80 + (8/8) *1/10 mulictcand of one to get common denoimumer
144/40 - 20/40= 240/80+ 8/80 simpliy terms
124/40= 248/80 addition of terms
3.1= 3.1 Division and propery of equals
answer correct

You should do your own homework. However, here are some pointers: what you want to do is isolate the variable according to the order of operations. In other words, you need to get x or y by itself on one side of the equation. To do this, you either add, subtract, multiply, or divide whatever accompanies the variable to each side, depending. So, for instance, in the first problem, you would subtract 1 from both sides as the first step, because addition and subtraction is done before multiplication and division. If the variable appears on both sides of the equation, as in the third problem, you would want to add/subtract one of the two from each side, depending on what seems easier: so, in this instance, I would subtract ((3/4)y) from each side, because it will result in a positive variable and it's a little cleaner.

okay well you are balancing the equations so that means what you do to one side you MUST DO TO THE OTHER for the first one start off with adding one to each side then you get
5/3x+2=0 make sense?
then-- 5/3x= -2
you can handle the rest
