Which one do you like better and why. And why do people always compare the two?

I think it´s Harry Potter, because it´s the better one...LOTRs are so boring stuff!

Harry Potter It is easy to follow and the names are real names because they have fantasy and they are very very long. I think The lord of the rings should not be compared though it is a classic collection while Harry Potter is a newer collection.

Lord of the Rings is better written, thought out, and executed both in the books and the movies.
However, Harry Potter is much more entertaining, both to read and watch, because it moves along at a decent pace which is exectly the opposite of Lord of the Ring's slow "let's make everything twice as long as it needs to be be" pace.

Lord of the Rings it is more of a grown up movie. I consider Harry Potter a older children's movie. I have never heard of them being compared. They are to far a part.

the movie lord of the rings is much better but for the book Harry potter is the most perfect one

Harry Potter [to me] has a better story and was comical. I personally am into the kid movies. Plus it was a little bit more whimsical....the fairy's, the talking ghosts and the magic tricks and secret spells you wish you can use on people in your work place...LOL!!!.....Although I loved all the actors in Rings, I was bored and all 3 movies were just way too long. Rings was a constant battle. It was a very sad tale.

LOTR is far better than Harry Potter. They compare the two because J.K. Rowling lifted a great deal from LOTR. However, J.K. is still a good author and a hell of a lot richer than me.
