If you lie in front of a camera, then someone has to prove actual damages directly related to the lie.

Clinton lied while under oath in a Federal court case with the intention of misleading the court in the furtherance of a civil case. That constitutes perjury. Perjury is a Felony. The remedy for the prosecution of Felonies against the President is impeachment proceedings.

To impeach the President requires evidence that the President engaged in Felony conduct. As a practical matter it is going to have to be some pretty clear evidence. And for the Senate to vote for removal from office it is going to have to be some seriously crazy Felony like murder or something.

Clinton was impeached, because it was so easy to do! If I remember correctly, the Republicans controlled both houses of Congress at the time, and they were hell-bent from the get-go on ruining Clinton. The head job in the Oval Office just happened to a convenient excuse.

When you have the majority in the House and Senate you can investigate the president. Remember Clinton was not in control of the house at that time. If the dems had the House right now there would be investigations on Bush. Its just that simple. If the House is on your side you can slide.
P.S.
They still could not kick Clinton out of the White House because it was a trumped up charge. They will never admit it though

Telling the American Public AND more importantly a Federal Grand Jury "I did not have sex with that woman"

The only thing that saved his *** was the threat of Al Gore being President. Made good political sense to know we hurt the bastard and the next election would be ours.
