Sometimes we are overly concerned about offending people. It's sad. The majority of people in this country still celebrate Christmas, but we can't offend the minority and have to say Happy Holidays. It's kind of silly. I understand the idea behind it, but still.

Nope sorry. There are people who are really stand off ish that do have problems with Christmas and so thats why. Most people if you said Merry Christmas to them and they didn't celebrate it will not be an *******. But I guess it is consideration for people who do take it offensively to make Christmas a national holiday instead of Divali, Ramadan, Chunukah, Chinese New Year or Kwanza. As for the decoration these people have their own decorations. It would look like a mad house if Wendy'c McDonald's, and Burger King had all 6 holidays decorations.

Happy holidays is said instead of Merry Christmas because it is more objective. Some religions do not celebrate Christmas but all that I can think of off hand have some form of winter holiday.
I don't think it really matters wether fast food places decorate for the holidays. For one, no one goes to fast food places to see decorations, they go there for fast food. Second, to be accepting of all religious beliefs, they would be limited to secular symbols. This, by my guess, would still be unsatisfying for you.
To put it short: I disagree with you.

yeah you are right....kids don't see nearly enough decorations at McDonalds....maybe we should think about if it is right to allow our kids to eat at these places...maybe these fastfood resteraunts are the reason why America's youth is fatter than they have ever been...maybe it is a good thing that they don't decarate, so kids will not want to eat there...and if he sent cards out saying "happy holidays," then he sent out holiday cards and not Christmas cards.....I thought we were the melting pot....can't we accept a little diversity...if our president didn't celebrate Christmas would you still expect him/her to send out a Christmas card? Or do you think we will never have a president that is not christian? (I am sure people in 1780 really didn't expect us to elect a Catholic president ever either)

Having received a Christmas card from this president in 2004, I can personally tell you the message on the card sent was very Christian oriented and taxpayers do not pay anything for the cards he sends out.

No. I tend to disbelieve most all urban legends. But that's just me.
The President sends out holiday cards to wish people well during Christmas season and New Years (as well as those celebrating other holidays, such as Hanakah).
This particular president has not only shown that he doesn't buy into political correctness, he is so un-influenced by non-Christian countries as to actually attack them militarily.
You really need to stop getting your news from emails.

Nope I don't agree. North America represents a Nation of different cultures...NOT just Christians...you have a right to celebrate Christmas anyway you want, but the Muslims, Jews, Bhuddists also have a right to celebrate what they want, when they want.
Regardless whether Bush and Harper are Christians, they represent ALL cultures from their respective countries.

I think it's nice that government dollars are not being used to promote a Christian holiday, as we are not a Christian nation. True, 75% of all Americans declare themselves Christians (1,500 denominations and counting), but have you ever thought about how taxpayer-financed Christmas card make your Jewish, Muslim, Buddhist neighbors feel? Free country right? Freedom of religion? Love that 1st Amendment.

It seems like a very touchy subject..In one way, I as a Christian, love X-mas and all the decorating that goes along with it,,but it may offend those who do not believe in a Christian based Holiday of Christmas...so I understand why .....
