At 13 ,stuff like pretty lip gloss, and maybe a little shimmer for the eye lid was as close to make up I was getting. It isn't very necessary to put make on her face b/c she needs to be comfortable with her natural self, but still feel girlie and a little mature. Make up could worsen her pimples,so let her wait until high school to wear it if she decides to. But the lip gloss, and different eye lid shimmers keeps it at a good balance.

I would say that 15 is the appropriate age if she is asking for it. If she is not interested and asking you do not do it. You want to let her be a kid as long as possible. Life gets too fast and kids get into sex too fast. Let her have fun and just be a girl. Try finding another way to spoil her or relate to her baised on her personal interests. I think it is nice you want to do something for her. What about taking her out and buying her a new outfit her choice and taking her to a movie and lunch? Just be a mother. I think that is so great you want to be there for her and when she wants to ask you for advice you will be right there when she wants to go to formal dances and pick out dresses and wear makeup and have fancy hair. In the meanwhile support her in whatever interests her and encourage her in whatever healthy activities she is involved with be it sports or art or anything that is not dangerous or going to get her into trouble.
You are a good person. She is lucky to have someone who takes an interest in her. She has you as a female role model when she needs one. It is nice. My mom was a mess. I had to figure out all that stuff myself. I still have not figured out all of it, but I manage and I just ask at the cosmetics counter if I cannot figure it out. I even have gone up to the counter at a fancy grocery store and asked how do I make real rice and what kind should I buy. I have learned a great deal and am not embarrased. Anyway she is lucky to have you and not have to go it alone. 13 is too young for makeup even if she wants it.

The appropritate age to start wearing make up is around 17 or 18 BECAUSE if you start wearing makeup when your 13 and 14 by the time your a grandmother or old your skin will be very shriveled up because of all the chemicals that were taken in at a very young age. Also because your still growing at 13 and 14 so as you grow your skin will stretch. If you start wearing make up at 17 and 18 by the time your a grandmother your skin will be smooth

I Have worn make-up since I was 6 but that cause my mom is so cool. But I am 13 Now and my face is zit free just have her wash her face after she is done wearing it. Now the right age to start wearing make-up would probably be at least 12 or 13. But of course it all depends on how much they are ready/whether they are or not just give them time. Good Luck!!

Start Around 13-14 with just Mascara and lip gloss Then maybe for a birthday gift take her out to one of the makeup counters in a store and they can show her how to look good, not trashy, and to keep it clean...

When I was 13, I went to school with girls who wore makeup and it turned me off. They didn't properly wear makeup and always had on too much! I think wearing lip gloss is appropriate for a 13 year old girl. I am speaking as an educator too.

yeah i think that 13 is a great age to let kids start experimenting with light makeup and i dont believe that if its only limited it'll let her grow up too fast.... now if it makes her look like she's 20 or something thats not good and she cant ever let it get too out of hand, but if you get a professional to show her how, then its all good....

make up occasionaly iss ok for 13, but I think all the time (even if its just gloss or mascara) should be put off until 15-16 at the youngest
in my oppinion its ok for a 13 year old to want to dress up but its unhealthy for her to start worrying all the time about how she looks
