I have always used AOL before. Now, I'd like to drop AOL & switch to YAHOO exclusively, but I don't know how to connect without going through AOL first. Do I need to get a disc somewhere, like AOL has ? I 've never seen YAHOO discs anywhere. Thank you for any help you can give.

Yahoo is a web site and content provider.

AOL is a web site, a content provider, and an ISP, or internet service provider.

What you were doing was using the internet service provider aspect of AOL to connect to the internet, and then going to Yahoo from there. You need an internet connection (from anywhere) before you can get to Yahoo.

There are other ways to connect to the internet besides AOL. Earthlink is fairly inexpensive. DSL and Cable are far, far, far faster, but more money.

Good luck.

Open Internet Explorer and type in yahoo.com. Look for the log in and you're done. This of course assumes you have a broadband (DSL, or Cable) connection. If you do not then search for Yahoo access numbers on Google and dial in and sign up. Here is a link for dial up:

this can be done via rasphone, eg if u do start run and type in rashpone press ok or enter.
and then press new, and follow the prompts just keep pressing next and the username is your login name eg name@yahoo.com etc and the password and then dial.

assuming you have an ISP - meaning you can connect to the Internet, just go to Yahoo's website and look under their software area...Yahoo is not an ISP per se (SBC-Yahoo DSL is an ISP, it's SBC along with Yahoo's software)...

click start up -> administration Panel, or open up My pc, then double click administration Panel. From there, double click "upload or eliminate classes". contained in the list, see if there is a few thing equivalent to "Norton Firewall" or "Norton safe practices". If both one in each and every of them are there, and also you pick to eliminate them, i'd uninstall the firewall first then the safe practices. i should be incorrect in spite of the indisputable fact that. If there is just one, purely uninstall it.
