Old Navy - they have a good mix of clothes that you can put together for a really low price with high quality and a bit a fashion - Also TJMaxx always have the top name brands for cheap prices! and right now is the time for sales - get tops that are "summer" and then get a nice jacket that is flexible - the shirt under can change the entire look! Have fun teaching! Remember the kids respond to what they see!

Wherever you go, make sure to:
(1) get separates that can be mixed and matched, your clothes will go a longer way that way,
(2) try to get as many wrinkle-free/ironing-free clothes, having to iron your clothes after a hard day at school is not fun,
(3) be age-appropriate; some of the more conservative (read: older) faculty will want you to dress like them, have a personal style within the limits of the rules
. . . and in my opinion, having a few good pieces is better than having many clothes that all look alike.

Before you hit the retail stores, try Goodwill or Salvation Army. I very often buy Old Navy, NY & Co, American Eagle, and other good store brand clothing for a fraction of the cost.
I personally prefer Goodwill Stores; at least in my town, the clothes are sorted by style (long sleeve, short sleeve, etc), by size, & by color. So I can actually go in there looking for, say, a long sleeve navy button down shirt and khaki pants and find them!
You'll still need certain pieces from retail sources (such as good shoes, for God's sake get nice, comfortable shoes!), but you can pick up ALOT of your separates at the thrift store.

I have found that New York & Company has great clothing at affordable prices. They have good sales. The clothing is professional attire that will mix and match well with the rest of your wardrobe. Good luck.

I second Old Navy. I like to try to wait until the clothes go on clearance. They usually have good deals. Mervyn's also has some nice work clothes.

The Gap usually has great slacks that are age and work appropriate. Check for sales if you are a savvy shopper.
