The person who did the first answer is wrong. More women die from heart attacks than breast cancer. Breast cancer is just in the media more.

Women worry more about breast cancer because most of the time when you get it you die and you can survive a heart attack. The real reason though is that we women are scared because there are so many of those little pink breast cancer bows everywhere when we see them we look down at are breast when know one is looking and feel around. When your breast starts to get a little sore and you don't think its your period your scared its because we know so much we are scared. How many times do you hear a women died from a heart attack in movies, t.v. , Internet, or the news? Not many. How many times have you heard a woman died from her struggle from breast cancer? All the time. Plus we women think that heart attacks frequently occur in men.

Many breast cancers can happen at a young age, whereas most women think a heart attack is something they can worry about "later." And for the obvious reasons, breasts being such an obvious feature of the female body.

the answer is vanity my friend,,
woman who have a heart attack either die or live to tell the tale,, the only people aware of this are themselves, doctor, and close family,
but if woman get the big CA of their breasts evereyone in their opinion knows if they have had a removal,,
their self confidence hits an all time low and some folk would rather be dead,,
i am a paramedic and i can assure women out there, that breast cancer survival rates are terrific due to scientific advances and even for the few who need surgery the amount of devices available today is unbelievable,, no-one would ever notice unless you told them

CA is a terrible thing for any human to suffer and hopefully one day we will remove it from society altogether
anyone with cancer out there,, keep positive keep smiling and enjoy life

Breast cancer is portrayed as a "woman's disease", although men can get it too. Face it, our breasts are the most visible things that identify us to ourselves and to the world as women (Walking around with your other lady parts hanging out is a little taboo). I think people have used the fear associated with getting the disease and losing your breasts, or life, as a way to forge a "sisterhood" amongst women in order to bring the disease to the forefront of our collective consciousness, and believe me people pay attention to this and jump on the band wagon. Go to your local Target and you can buy coolers, golf clubs, tennis rackets, and a multitude of other things that "raise the awareness of breast cancer" because breast cancer sells.

I don't mean to say in anyway that breast cancer isn't important, I just think it's disgusting on how some organizations try to capitalize on a serious disease.

Losing your life is one thing. Losing your titties is another. Personally I'd rather have a heart attack then get testicular cancer where I had to have both my balls removed. Hell, maybe that would be good for me. I'm sure either way, I'd be at peace.

Not to mention that breast cancer can be detected and prevented. Death by cardio arrest would be quicker than death by breast cancer. Besides, who wants a portion of their womanhood taken away? That must be disturbing, just like if I lost my berries.

I've had breast cancer and for those twits who think the fear of it has something to do with vanity or beauty issues...please don't judge other people by your own pathetic shallow standards.

I fear it because each year, 182,000 women are diagnosed with breast cancer and 43,300 die. One woman in eight either has or will develop breast cancer in her lifetime.

Don't get me wrong I make sure I keep my heart healthy too, but I have little patience for the dueling diseases campaigns.

because it is more likely that a woman will die from breast cancer than from a heart attack.
I know loads of women that have or have had breast cancer but not one that has had a heart attack.
