The only disadvantage is having the batteries go critical while you are trying to make your way through the last level of FEAR (or game of your choice). Other than that there is none. Unless you happen to be working in a TV or Radio studio where there are lots of devices around that will interfere with it, there are no problems. Just make sure you get one that operates on a RF frequency and not the 2.4GHz band if you have a Bluetooth device around, having a keyboard (or mouse) that operates on the 2.4GHz band will interfere with your Bluetooth device (I know, it has happened to me).

batteries. they seem to go quickly.
and a wireless mouse is more of a pain because the pointer doesn't seem to move as smoothly.

No wire, but when you run out of battery at 2am in the morning, its not a good feeling :)

batteries, interference, cost, and a usb slot being used when if you have a wire, there is a special slot.
