Molecular Level Of Genetics: Mutations

If a particular DNA molecule contained 20 % thymine, how much of the molecule would be adenine? How much would be cytosine?

I am not asking fr anyone to DO my homework, but it is a good wat to check my answers and help me. I am doing Bio 12 thru correspondese and appreciate the help

100% all acids
T = 20% so A= 20%
100 - (A+T)= 100% - 20 + 20=60% G and C
G=30%
C=30%
A=20%
T=20%

The other 20%

Thymine will always bond to Adenine. Therefore, the molecule would also be 20% adenine.

The last 60% would be half Cytosine, half Glucosamine.

adenine and guanine are purines uracil, cytosine, and thymine are pyrimidines so that means 12 purines and 8 pyrimidines and 20 bases altogether (8 + 12). edit: a dna molecule is already a double helix right? so assuming you mean there are 12 A and 8 C on one strand of the DNA molecule, then there would also be 12 T and 8 G due to complementary base pairing so then there would be 20 each.

20% Adenin - 30% Goanin - 30% Citozin

due to the DNA base pairing,

A-T
G-C

so a logical approach would be to deduce the molecules contain 20% A also..

therefore, since C and G will be in equal amt too
amt of cytosine = (100-20-20)/2 = 30%

Adenine binds to thymine in a 1:1 ratio (reference 1).

From this, you can conclude there would be one adenine for every thiamine. The balance of the math is left up to you. :-)
