how do you get more money for The Sims without working(job)?

hit shift, ctrl, and c. A command window will open up. For The Sims, enter in "rosebud;!;!;!" (every ";!" equals another $1000).
For The Sims 2, open the command window the same way, then type in "motherlode" or "kaching" (I don't remember if the ";!" works or not.

To get out of the command window, hit esc.

For the Sims2, you can give your sim family more money either in the family bin or on the neighborhood view. Press Ctrl + shift + c, when the cheat window comes up, type familyfunds (family name) # (where # is the amount of money you want the family to have). For example, you want to give the Smith family an additional $5,000, the cheat would be: familyfunds Smith +5000, you can subtract money from the family by using - instead of +.

cheat. after you select a family, type ctrl-c or ctrl-shift-c at the same time then a small dialogue box will appear type "ROSEBUD" then press enter once you've entered rosebud you can now add money by typing "!;!;" repeatedly
