my grandfather just lost his footing on the stair by my back patio and hurt his shoulder. he says he can move it if his other arm supports it but it is painful to try to move it by itself. he says he doesn't believe that he has broken it, but i was wondering if there are any doctors out there who could possible give me an idea of what he actually hurt. thank you very much.

Best way to know is to go get an x-ray. Go to an urgent care facility if there's one available or call his doctor. Go to the ER if neither of these are an option. Especially if his range of motion is not normal or there's swelling or he's in pain. It could be broken, it could be dislocated, it could be just bruised. Better safe than sorry.

Take your grandfather to the emergency room. He might have dislocated that shoulder, or fractured a bone. A few months ago a guy I know who used to bench-press 200 pounds for exercise fell from a tree and shattered his arm. While your grandfather doesn't sound like he's done that, he really should have it looked at.

He should have it x-rayed. I took a nasty fall back in November and my shoulder still isn't quite the same. I didn't go to the doctor until a week later (I was on vacation in Germany when I hurt it). He may have hurt the rotator cuff, but only a doctor can say for sure...after he has been examined. It's even more crucial he sees a doctor ASAP because he is older and may have brittle bones.

Physically, I will die. I'd like to think that my wife and kids would mourn. Spiritually, I will exist forever. As for me, I will exists forever in the presence of God -- no more tears, no more worries, no more concerns, all my needs met. I will even have my physical body restored in perfect form one day. No disease, no aging. And that body will exists on a restored earth, and earth without flaw. No need for a sun or moon, because the light of God will provide all that I need. But for some, their eternal existence will be NOT in the presence of God. They will be in total darkness, an area of flames giving heat but no light. Not tortured by God, not tortured by the Devil. In fact, they will receive the SAME torture as the Devil -- no love, always wanting, always needy, never satisfied. Skin peeling away to expose the raw nerves to the flames, yet never burning up completely, always in pain, always tortured by endless hear and fire, a torture made worse with the knowledge that it COULD have been avoid, if they had made the right decision -- only one decision -- while still alive in the body. I'm not afraid to die. I'll miss my wife and kids, but I expect to see them again soon enough.

You can't tell the difference between a break and something less serious just by looking; the ER is the best course of action.

His shoulder may be dislocated. Best to get it checked out at the emergency room in any case.

He might have dislocated it. Put ice on it and take him to the ER.

he couldve fractured/cracked the bone, or maybe he has just bruised the bone, you need to have him get it xrayed right away, if it is broken it needs to be placed so it will heal correctly
