My best advice is to have a cartoon time with her. Make her a spot on the floor next to you and lat on the couch. That way, she is still near you and you can get some rest. You might also want to break out the crayons and paper too. She can draw some pics while watching cartoons, good for the commercial times.

Tell her that she doesnt have to take a nap, but designate a "quiet time" every day that she can play quietly in her room. Put a gate up in her door way to keep her contained safely in her bedroom while you rest, and leave the door open so you can hear her if something happens, then take a quick 30 minute nap. You should feel refreshed afterwards.

If that doesnt work, you could try asking a family member if they wouldnt mind coming over to play with her while you rest for 30 minutes to an hour......Good Luck!

try telling your daughter that the baby in your belly needs a nap and in order for the baby to take a nap mommy needs to take a nap also. Then tell her that her baby brother/sister would like for her to take a nap with. It might work, but if not you can always see if your mom would mind taking her for a couple of hours each day.

Great question! We have one baby right now, and I already worry how I'm going to tackle the sleeping thing with the next one. I am guessing you stay at home? Since she is 6, I think it would be ok to put her in day care for a couple of hours a day. If that is not an option due to money or something, maybe you two can try quiet time where you and she do a relaxing activity. You won't get sleep, but you'd get rest.

I'm not sure about your six year old, but mine is very self reliant. She knows right from wrong - what she can get in to and what she can't - and to never under any circumstance leave the house or open the door.

If your child is mature enough, make a pallet on the floor for her beside the couch - turn the t.v. - or a movie on and have her "rest" with you. Tell her she doesn't have to sleep, but if she would relax with you it would make you feel better.

Try getting her a drink, snack, etc. and putting it on a tray so she can sit with you and watch t.v. and hang out while you catch a little shut eye.

well if oyu have a tv in your room have her come in with you and watch some tv for an hour and bring her toys. Lock the door so she can't sneak out. Hve drinks and snacks for her. and take a little nap. Just make sure she knows not to leave the room and if she needs something tell mommy...good luck

You'll have to tough it out! When I was pregnant I had a infant at home and a 2 year old. My two youngest are 12 months apart. There was never a quiet moment. If you can, see if someone can watch your child for a couple of hours or see if she can go to grandma's overnight. That is the only way you will be able to rest!
