Probably not. The African competitors will have a nice advantage in 2010, and so far only South Americans win outside their own continent, so it will be one of the biggest shocks ever if Europeans manage to eliminate everyone else again. Unless they make major changes in four years, most of the European teams aren't good enough to do that, not so far away from home.

There is a good chance they will do it in 2010. South Africa can really be seen as neutral ground. The South American power houses (Brazil/Argentina) should not have any more support than the European teams. So it is strictly a matter of numbers - 4-6 competitive teams from Europe vs 2 from the Americas, and it is likely a European nation will win the cup.

As for the weather being an advantage, don't forget it is winter in south africa at that point. Average temperatures in June are actually quite low, 60 degrees in Johannesburg, 64 in capetown, 65 in pretoria.

Not for a very long time and surely not in South Africa Four years from now. The only teams to win a world cup outside of their continent have been the South americans. Brazil in Sweden 1958, Brazil again in Mexico 1970,a nd Argentina in Mexico 1986.

rumor has it that europeans are not as familiar with different sorts of climate than different international places. brasilians come from hotter climate yet considering some play in europe, they get used to the elements over there, an similar isn't authentic for the europeans so that they fatigue a lot less puzzling and decelerate. bear in mind bolivia - argentina, the ecu argentinians couldn't do a lot because they were no longer used to the altitude in peru EDIT: Azian Playa in reality copied what i discussed

I think it's a question of European players not coping with the heat of other confederations.

South Africa will not change the trend of non-Euro hosts having warm weather, so don't hold your breath...
