I have several myself, usually when I am under stress. I have one, though, that pops up when I am sleeping but getting sick - I dream about counting all the bins of nuts, bolts and nails in my grandfather's hardware store. I recognise the dream now and am able to wake up.

Yes I do. (I have many) This one takes place in Nigeria. I am living in my grandmothers mansion with my sister and my older brother. The sky is clear and a robin's egg blue, the sun is relentless and shining.
Then the news comes.
There is a dusty, dark brown looking news boy who delivers my grandmother her news, and he hands me a note.
I read it and the tears are moving wildly down my eyes like a tsunami.
My mom died in a plane crash.
I sit there for a long long long time contemplating my life. Then I look over the oak balcony and its carved surface, I stand on the balcony so I can get a clear view of what is happening on the lake. The lake my grandma owns is filled with frozen water despite the heat. There are penguins gliding over the water and this sad symphony is playing in my mind, I see a mirage of my mom standing on the lake, I open my arms, I jump.
Then I woke up.
I have no idea what this means, I think it has to do with me being scared of my mom dying.

I always have two dreams. One is that I find out that I never graduated high school so I have to go back to finish my last semester as an adult. The other dream is that the house I grew up in (which is no longer there - it's been replaced by new town homes) is still there and I have to rush to get my things out of it.
I think we can learn something from reccurring dreams.

Illness. I dream I am in a hospital and everything is very white and clean and there is this hard shell over a soft inside. I inevitably wake up with a fever. Have had these since I was about 5.

Yes. I do not dream or maybe I do not remember what I have dreamed. So to me I am basically passed out for 8+ hours.

I used to have a few recurring dreams yearly about the same time, but strangely they just kind of... disappeared.

a few actually. to me dreams do not contain so much symbolism but rather function as the clearing out of my mind

I have had repeated dreams. One in particular was quite long and involved. If you want to read about it, please refer to one of my Best Answers; it was about three months ago. Sorry to make you go look for it, but it was quite long and involved, and I don't feel like repeating it here.
