Hey Sad, Listen in this political correct society of ours whites are basicly the enemy, I think Blacks and others who feel its ok to bash them have a long standing chip on their shoulder. Its the old, well you did it way back then so now were gonna do it to you. It would be nice to move forward, but its just not gonna happen. As long as theres things like Affirmative Action (whitch is basicly a big yes to discrimination) things will never improve on the racefront.

your so UN educated but at least your willing to learn or you wouldn't have ask the question segregation only end 40 years ago ..and to answer you last question which is by far the most lame of em all uuuuuuuummmm let me see?
why do black people feel The need to keep separated from whites
maybe because the institution of segregation duh remember
you probably don't .... yeah slavery was so long ago ..
but not only you but your children's ,children will benefit from it
learn its only a choice to remain ignorant if you actually knew some of the experiment that were performed on blacks ,behavioral and medical "after all your ancestors had to control a growing slave population that was starting to revolt
you would ask these moronic questions

First of all, you need to know your history. Ignorance is bliss! Black people do not feel the need to be separate from white people. The need for a Black Entertainment Television stations is for black people to feel a sense of unity. It HAS NOTHING to do with not being a part of the white community. A SECONDLY, this is not A BLACK AND WHITE world, there are other race(s) and ethnics out there. I have channels in my home town for the Hispanic culture also. This give them a sense of UNITY also. And also, I have heard white comedians make jokes of black people and they were funny. A THIRDLY, I have never in my LIFE called a white person HONKEY or CRAKER. And about the whole slavery thing, you need know your history and remember your history so that YOU DONT FORGET where you came from. Its not just black history, it is OUR HISTORY! That way, we can understand and learn about different cultures. It all boils to is respect. I would recommend you to check out a book at your LOCAL LIBRARY about African American culture, Hispanic culture, Native American culture, and Asian culture.....just do research on other cultures besides your own. That will answer your questions and it will open your eyes to what the OTHER SIDE thinks.

You forgot the NAACP, all-black colleges, etc...
I live in a predominantly black neighborhood, one of maybe 3 white families here. I don't get called cracker (even though I have a white cat named that, lol), I'm called "crazy white person".
I think there is a lot of what we call "reverse discrimination" (black against white), and yes they bring up the slavery issue. What I enjoy telling people is that they are forgetting that there were slaves of ALL colors, not just black.
Most black people, unless you catch them in a crowd of their "homies" have a good sense of humor. I had one tell me I was the "whitest white girl they'd ever seen", and I told him that she was left in the oven too long cause she was burnt (dark black). Also, if you want to see racism, I had a friend from Africa marry a black woman from the US, take her home, and his family asked him why he married a white woman (she was a paler black).
I figure that if they feel bigger by having their own stuff fine, but don't get pissy when we have all-white stuff. After all, we still have the Klan, lol (joke people).

I've noticed that the most racist groups of people are the minorities - and not necessarily racist against white people, either. I've met plenty of black people who can't stand the Chinese immigrants, Vietnamese who don't like Indians, Mexicans who don't like Jews, etc. All individuals! I'm NOT making any sweeping general statements with that.
Reverse racism happens all the time. Like it or not, it does go back to slavery in this country. White people have some racial guilt about it, so they allow the abuse. And, of course, the biggest racists are the ones who complain loudly about being descrimminated against.
People are most comfortable with what they're familiar with, so that's why ethnic minorities tend to congregate together. If you're in a room full of black people and white people, and you're white, you're going to go hang out with the white people, right?
Why can't we all just get along?

It's not OK, but people sometimes have some very strange and immature tastes in humor & entertainment.
Some black people do use demeaning terms when referring to white people, but other black people use demeaning terms for their race when referring to THEMSELVES, and I don't understand or see any humor in that either.
Have you ever been in a situation where you (who I assume does not belong to a minority race) WERE the minority? It would open your eyes! I once joined a choir of 67 members, 64 of whom were black....and although they never treated me like an outcast, it certainly did make me feel out-of-place and make me appreciate what the world looks like to someone who happens to be in a minority.
So I don't think the issue here is the behavior of the black person, but the behavior of anyone, of any race, who dispises a race different than their own, and uses derogatory terms to express their distain for ALL of them. That's never OK. And the best solution I know is to model behavior YOURSELF that is accepting and affirming of everyone.

I think if you can joke about something than its ok as long as everyones laughing. I've been called a cracker and laughed about it been called other names that weren't meant as a joke and that really cut. I think everyone thinks its ok for a black comedian to make white jokes because they assume its not hurting anyone. Its is a double standard though.

It is not OK for any race to call another race degrading names. And to answer your BET question, blacks did not have a place on television where we could see things that interest us solely until BET came around, we had to wait once a week until Cosby Show or Goodtimes came on before we saw actors and actresses that look liked us so thanks Bob Johnson for bringing BET to us.

Leave them alone. We caused them enough pain. When somebody in a family dies, everyone grieves differently. Our ancestors caused indescribable pain. Let people heal how they need to. It is not for us to judge.
I was once horribly prejudiced against by some wonderful black people. They were cruel to me. You know what I did? I accepted it and loved them anyway. No matter how much I was hurt, our ancesters hurt them MORE.

Because white people are easily pushed around.
We do not seem to have a choice one way or the other because black people are the "oppressed" we have to cater to their delicate feelings. White peolpe do not have feelings I guess.
