I wear black socks every day...my feet don't seem any hotter than if I was wearing white socks...in fact, at the moment my toes are a bit chilly. Socks made out of mostly natural fibers will have a tendency to breathe better.

Yes, there is a big difference (but not as far as how hot your feet are). When you wear black socks and you sweat, then when you take the socks off your toenails are like a soft blackish color, and they get blacker as you use them over and over again. The color change is probably because of the dye that they use to make the socks black (especially if they are cheap, then the dye runs). If you still want to use them, then I suggest you get a good foot scrubbing brush and you soack your feet and scrub your toenails after every use of the socks.

Well, my coach told me not to wear black game socks because it made your feet sweat more, then there was a greater chance that you would come down with athletes foot or somthing of the sort.

I would think they would. I don't play basketball but I would think if you were outside on a hot day, the black socks would feel hotter.

In this case if it makes you look kewler your probably going to feel cooler!

Dark surfaces absorb and retain more heat, so yes. I am not sure ho0w huge the difference is, though.
