We're getting better treatment, but I wouldn't say we are currently equal to men. There's still a huge pay gap between men and women. Yes we've gotten better salaries and are now holding higher postition jobs, but we are still lagging behind.
If you look at society llike pop culture, then we are definately not seen as equals because women are usually depicted as ditzy (ie Jessica Simpson), whorish (paris hilton), or villians if they're agressive in the coporate world (omorosa). In music videos they're often depicted as the sex toy for the men, and even the young pop tween singer females often are sexualized depsite thier young age.

It is always getting better but still the U.S. has not changed the constitution to state equal rights. The only change we have had in the constitution for womens rights was suffrage. Everything else is at the state level. There should be some federal level change that states that women as well as men are equals. Not that only men can own land and no women can.

Cries of sexism and racism in today's society are just excuses for people to get more then they deserve.

No, we're still bitches when we play hardball in the corporate world, where a man behaving the same way would get slapped on the back for the same behavior.

Yes. Although it is not the rights of women you should be worried about. It is the rights of your fellow homosexual citizens. They are denied hundreds of rights, not just the right to marry.
