An American Indian friend of mine has been making Dreamcatchers from red willow for me to give to my customers. With all the other things she does for her shop and the encapments she goes on, she is not able to make as many as needed. I need to know where I should look for the red willow so myself and my children can go cut our own. She told me marshes. I guess I am looking for any insight from anyone as to the best way to proceed with this. Red willow is not protected from what I understand. Any help or guidance would be greatly appreciated.

My suggeston is to ask a local native plant nursery. You would purchase some plants and grow your own, or they could tell you where the native plants grow and what restrictions might be.

I have provided a source for you to consult.

You might try this site or contact the Dept. of WI Agriculture for some help to find where it grows.
