It drives me crazy!!!! When hands free sets cost a buck at the dollar store!!! Seriously, is it possible for me to start something like this?

Call your congressman (state) and tell them you support such a law.
start a petition...find out how many signatures it takes to get a referendum vote.
or send the petition to your congressman, just make sure all the signatures are from his district...this will be like a couple of thousand phone calls.
start lobbying your congress (state), and cite examples of other states (that are hopefully similar to your state) that have already passed this law.
Get Political action committees together (PACS) they can raise money and support campaigns for politicians who support their cause. there's a PAC out there for almost every special interest.

Yes, just start calling the lawmakers in your community. They already have a law like this in effect in the city of Chicago, and I'm sure others as well.

A lot of state legislatures are petetioning to ban cell phone usage while driving, word is that it will be banned in most states by next year!

I live in the Netherlands, it is already illegal here as in most of Europe. The fines are quite high.

its already illegal to talk on phone w/o a headset in NY. some states have it illegal but if not yet in your state, then write your congressman/senator.
