No. Most waitresses get paid below minimum and get their tips taxed. That's how resturant employers justify paying them below min. wage.

When I waitressed, I got paid 2.30 an hour, + tips.

Alot of it depends on where you work though. If you work in a 5 star resturant, you'll get paid more than if you work in something like Applebee's.

That depends on how good of a server you are. Waitresses/Waiters generally get paid around $2.15 an hour. The real money in serving tables comes from tips. The better a server you are, the more money you make.

In Georgia the pay is 2.15 an hour plus tips. If you fail to make the equivalent of minimum wages by the end of the pay period, the employer is supposed to make up the difference and ensure that you make at least minimum wage. This is usually not necessary since most wait staff that can't make more than minimum wage don't last long in these jobs.

depends on what you consider alot... I served tables for a year or so... I made 150$ on good nights, 40-60$ on slow nights. Plus the free food you can consider part of your wage. Oh yea, and dont even factor in what the restaraunt will pay you. 2.13 an hr is what I made, came out to an extra 40-70$ every 2 weeks.

It depends on where you work.

Food servers don't typically don't make a lot of money per hour. Minimum wage for most. Where food servers make their money is through gratuities.

Large metropolitan areas -- Seattle, New York City, Los Angeles, Atlanta, Portland, Boston, Miami, Orlando which have higher end restaurants are going to be bigger money makers.

Lots and lots of folks who are wanting to become actors and actress's wait tables to make ends meet:)

No but they should be. I'd rather see prices go up for the food and stop the tipping and have the waitresses be paid a decent salary.

They CAN get paid a lot if they work at a good restaurant and spend more time working than they spend bitching about their tips.

It depends on the restaurant in one year I know of a freind of mine to make 48,000 in cash tips not counting tips off of credit cards and I made about 30,000 cash in tips one year. But like anything else it is location, location, location.

No. Its a shame. With the kind of people they have to put up with, they should be paid more.
