Historically, inidian would leave older adults behind at times. What if someone was really ill, would they leave them behind as well?

that is why they left them behind. for many of native Americans when they would flee their village they had very little time. they knew if they brought them along they would either get caught and more would die or they would die along the way. sadly it was every man for themselves. they were gonna face no mercy, men women children would have all been murdered if they were caught. they took what they can and the Strong made it to safety.

If you are nomadic and have to move around, very ill or very old people who require extra care and can't travel well will slow you down. In their view, it wasn't fair for one individual to slow down the whole group, so they got left behind.

Many cultures did similar things.

if you are talking about native American Indians,i will tell you...when someone is an elder they have the choice to stay and die where they want,they did not want to be a burden on their clan or Nation.it was not done out of meanness but,out of respect.
